Preventative Health for Mum

This Mother’s Day, we would like to thank mums everywhere of all shapes, sizes and ages for their care and guidance. We would not be here without you!

We would also like to encourage you to remind mum that sometimes, prevention may be better than cure. There are a range of preventative health activities that is recommended by the Royal College of General Practitioners.

For example, if mum is over the age of 50, we should consider:

·         Getting our heart health checked every 2 years.

·         Getting blood tests for diabetes every 3 years.

·         Getting checked for colon and breast cancer every 2 years.

·         Getting skin checks opportunistically or 6-12 monthly if mum is at high risk.

·         Getting checked for cervical cancer every 5 years.

·         Also remember to ask mum “are you okay?” when you get a chance!

Happy Mother’s Day!
